About Us:
Scorpion Racing is a dynamic Fort Lauderdale, Florida based Production car race team made up of Sports Car Club Of America owner/drivers Larry Dennis (G/Production Datsun 510) and Bob Rappleye (E/Production MGB). Sponsored by Haus of Trikes (Ocean City Maryland, and Orlando, Florida) and Signs Now and Signs Now of Bradenton, Florida. These two professionals take no prisoners when it comes to the racetrack. Larry has been actively racing for 13 years. In the process he has amassed an impressive total of wins, pole positions, and podium visits. Larry has 3 Regional Championships to his credit, won the 2001 S/E Division National Championship and has been invited to the SCCA Valvoline Runoffs National Championship races on numerous occasions. Larry will be actively competing in Southeast National, Regional and SARRC competition this season in preparation for another assault on the Southeast Divisional Championship, and the National G/Production title this coming September at the SCCA Runoffs at Mid-Ohio. Larry’s quest for another coveted invitation to race with the “Best of the Best” from all over the U-S and Canada will take him up and down the Eastern Seaboard this season screaming past the competition. Following last year’s impressive record (A podium finish every race weekend entered in 2002), the yellow Haus of Trikes, ___Bob’s Graphics___, Scorpion Racing 510 received new lighter bodywork and new graphics during the off season and looks to be a major contender in the Southeast once again this season (2003). Bob comes to driving for the team with a vast array of Public Relations/Marketing, Technical and Mechanical expertise. First as the lead mechanic for one of the Mid Atlantic’s premiere British car restoration and repair shops, and later as crew chief for the Mountjoy’s Autoshop E/P MGB national race team. Under Bob’s management, the Mountjoy team dominated E/Production Regional and MARRS races of the era, racking up five Regional Championships, and participating in the SCCA Valvoline Runoffs on three occasions. Bob hopes to put that experience to good use this year as he enters his sophomore season of SCCA Production racing. In 2002 Bob demonstrated impressive driving promise as a rookie, taking class wins in the first two races he entered, and earning a class pole position. After a complete “ground-up” update last season at the team’s Fort Lauderdale facility, the white Haus of Trikes, Scorpion Racing MGB will be actively campaigned in Southeast Regional and SARRC competition this season (2003). Lurking not too far in the shadows is yet a third Scorpion racing threat, an E/P Triumph GT-6. This unique project is currently under development at the team’s Ocean City, Maryland fabrication shop facility. Following completion and testing, this exciting new racecar will join the Datsun 510 and the MGB in regular SCCA Regional and National competition. The three car Scorpion Racing Group will terrorize the competition at world famous road courses like Sebring, Moroso Raceway Park, Daytona International Raceway, Road Atlanta, Homestead International Raceway, Mid-Ohio, Watkins Glen, Lime Rock, Pocono, and Virginia International Raceway, Feel the sting of the Scorpion Racing Group this season at a track near you!
